This family tree shows all the Sassos and Viggianos we have been able to find through discussions with family members, obituaries, birth and immigration records. We will continue to update this and hopefully will be able to get more information from Italian records at some point. As you can see we are unsure about each of the Viggiano's mothers and if maybe one of Giovanni's wives died and he remarried at some point. We also don't have any records of Donatas parents coming to the United States, where we've been able to find on the Sasso side that they all came to the United States (but only have ship manifests for Giovanni, Mary Daurio and Immaculato's husband). We are hoping this website is a starting point for any of our cousins that eventually ask the question, "Where did I come from?" And if any of you get the bug to do research, this website shares all the documentation we've found so far and would welcome any new information.
Speaking with Aunt Cookie, we thought having a family tree to show how all the Sasso cousins are related would be great. Over the years, with many of our cousins moving away from the Albany area, family reunions or events where we would get together and meet our cousins have diminished. We wanted to have a family tree to show the older cousins the families everyone else has had and maybe someday one of the younger cousins may meet or ask if they are somehow related to another person they met that says they had "Sasso relatives" from the Albany area.
This is only current as the date I was able to coordinate everyone's inputs. Over time, if there is new information or information to correct, please let me know and I'll update it. Thank you!
